À nos prothèses
À nos prothèses (To our prosthetics) is a collective of artists with diverse abilities that questions the relations of intimacy, dispossession and (in)accessibility we each have with our different prosthetics. The collective organise a day of workshops, participatory installations, screenings and rituals around our needs, our rejections, our memories and our stories of prosthetics..
In a friendly atmosphere, five artists from the collective will present this program:
- 1-1.45pm Opening: circle of needs
- 2-2.45pm Workshop 1: Collective Dentistry (to make your own dentures) by Goldjian Charlo /Anne Goldenberg.
- 3-3.45pm Workshop 2: Formes de reliance (a puppet/object theater workshop with our personal dentures) by Steve Day;
- 4-5pm Screening: Archives vivantes (screening of a deaf film by Émilie Peltier where audio description will be facilitated by participants).
- 5-6pm Closing: Prosthetic/Prophetic Circle
Also in the space:
- The prosthetic dream carrier (a participatory installation, with Braille translation by Denise Beaudry.)
- Acoustic buffer zone and collections of prosthetic stories (with Vytautas Bučionis.)
- Recharging zone – a quiet, restful place ‘out of the world’.
Activities will take place mainly in French, with whispered translation into English, and interpretation into LSQ and ASL. Articule is accessible to people with reduced mobility and is close to Beaubien and Rosemont metros. The latter has an elevator.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, May 12 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the artist-run center Articule (6282 rue St-Hubert, Montreal, H2S 2M2, Métro Rosemont).
