“Belonging: A Culture of Place”: “Spaces can be real and imagined. Spaces can tell stories and unfold histories. Spaces can be interrupted, appropriated, and transformed through cultural or artistic practices.” (hooks, 2007, p. 9)
The narratives of migration and mobility are intricate tapestries, woven with threads of displacement, compromise, violence, sorrow, and optimism. How do these narratives, both past and prospective, inform our connection to our surroundings and our roots?
Acts of Movement explores the human experience through diverse artistic expressions, centering on flux, memory, and metamorphosis. From individual trajectories to societal transformations, we engage with narratives of loss and the enduring echoes of colonialism through immersive sensory experiences. Through this exploration, we invite introspection into our shared humanity, emphasizing the transformative power of storytelling. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on movement in both personal and communal contexts, delving into themes of displacement and resilience.
