Evgenia Mikhaylova is a Russian-Chuvashian-Canadian interdisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. Her work examines the intricacies of communication, language, and epistemology through a research-based practice attuned to linguistic sensibility and the volatility of sounds and bodies at play. Musing from the underbelly of language, her work unfolds through relational co-composition and situated meaning-making, where sense emerges as a provisional and affective event that surmounts fixed signification. Her work interrogates the porosity of knowledge through desire, attunement, reciprocity, play, and collaboration as compositional forces in communication ecosystems that allow various voices and frequencies to cohabit, composing in a multiplicity of other types of knowing.
