Aurélie Petit

Aurélie Petit is a visual and social researcher specialised in the intersection of technology and animation, with a focus on gender and sexuality. She holds a PhD in Film Studies (Concordia University, Montreal) and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Quebec Francophone Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology (IANF) at INRS, Montreal. In recent years, she has held research positions on the subject of AI and pornography in various groups, including the AI + Society Initiative at the University of Ottawa and the Social Media Collective at Microsoft Research. She is currently editing the special issue of Porn Studies journal, ‘Artificial Intelligence, Pornography, and Sex Work.’ Her intermedia research-creation project, Black Pudding: A Speculative Visual Index (funded by the Machine Agencies GenAI Studio, the Milieux Institute, and the Applied AI Institute at Concordia University), was presented at the MUTEK Forum 2024 and 2025.
